Whether you’ve been on the iPhone band wagon for a while or you’ve just given in and got yourself one, here are a few apps that you need to get hold of – just in case you haven’t already! And if you haven’t got an iPhone, just see what you’re missing out on!
Send free messages to your friends every day – as many as you want! Fair enough, it’s only between iPhone users, but who hasn’t got an iPhone these days? It uses your internet connection and so allows you to send messages for free, like an instant messenger. You can send and receive text messages, photos and even voice recordings – it makes it easier to keep up to date with your friends than ever before. Check it out here.
Shazam
Name that tune! Have you ever listened to the radio and thought “I really like that song, must get it” but then you can’t find out who or what it was? Well here’s where Shazam can help. If you hear a song anywhere – on the radio, TV, during a film, or in a store – just tap ‘Tag’ and Shazam will listen to a few seconds and then tell you its name and who it’s by! Not only that, it then links you to the iTunes store (if you want to) so you can buy it. I still don’t know how it does it, but it does – very clever!
Vouchercloud
Admit it – everyone Googles to see if there are any discounts before they buy new clothes or shoes online, and how else would you find out if the local Pizza Express is doing a new meal deal? Not surprisingly, the iPhone now makes all this a whole lot easier, with a great app that eliminates the need for people to print out vouchers so they can use discount codes offline!
It takes your current location via GPS and shows you the offers closest to your location. So while you’re out shopping you can see which nearby shops have offers on or which restaurants are offering a good old 241 deal! Then all you have to do is show your phone at the till. Talking Carl
Carl makes us all laugh in the office at about 3 o’clock every day! Carl is a virtual iPhone friend who lives in your phone. It’s not a serious or useful app by any means – but it’s lots of fun! Carl is an amusing character…
- Tickle him and he’ll laugh out loud. I guarantee he’ll make you laugh out loud too.
- Talk to him and he’ll repeat your words in his funny voice.
- Poke his eyes and he will shout and yell. Pinch him and he’ll moan at you (well who wouldn’t!)
- And if you ignore or forget about him for a while he’ll start talking and grumbling to himself.
