Brands we used to know and love

No. 135 in an ongoing series… Birds Ice Magic

Readers of a certain age will fondly recall the dessert-themed delight that was Birds Ice Magic. A saccharine sludge that farted from it’s practically onomatopoeic packaging into your pud, only to – gasps – set hard! Science and seconds would never be this much fun again.

Check the truly wonderful ad here.

Birds itself is one of those quirkily British brands with its roots in the entrepreneurialism of the Victorian era, dating from 1837. It was acquired in the 1980s by US giant Kraft, although the legacy of its founder lives on in Brum’s Custard Factory, now a creative mecca.
