One of the great clichés in advertising – and every other industry, to be fair – is that of ‘thinking outside the box’. However, last week at Madhouse we were more concerned with what went into the box – or more specifically, the large blue crates into which we packed up our agency in advance of our big office move.

It was dusty, dirty, back-breaking work – the kind of physical graft that delicate agency hands aren’t necessarily used to – but by Friday evening we were all boxed up and staring out of windows in melancholy fashion, taking in familiar views for the last time. Our lovely old space on Mount Street in central Manchester, with its spiralling staircase and boardroom with memorable rooftop vista, has always had a bit of a ‘wow’ factor, and we were all hoping that our new headquarters would be equally impressive.

So now we’re here – what’s it like?

In short, it’s brilliant. We haven’t moved far – just a couple of minutes’ walk from the old place – but we’re now on Deansgate, the central artery that feeds Manchester’s urban heart, and it feels like the world’s flowing past our front door. But more importantly, our fourth floor space has been specifically designed for us, allowing us to execute our integrated marketing business even more smoothly than before. Ultimately, the aim is to further improve the service we offer, so if you’re one of our valued clients, prepare to feel the benefit of our brand new base.

There are still quite a few of those big blue crates cluttering up our virgin spaces, but everything’s now slotting into place as we get back down to work.

None of our phone numbers or email addresses have changed, so at heart, we remain the same old Madhouse. After 12 years on Mount Street it was time for a change, but when it comes to integrated communications, you know where to come.
